Japan Trip Countdown is now available on the App Store

Sunset in Japan, Tokyo Tower in the distance

I built it for that stretch between booking a trip and actually getting on the plane. You know the trip is coming, but there are still weeks or months of waiting, planning, and checking the calendar.

The app gives your Japan trip a permanent spot on your Home Screen or Lock Screen, with countdown widgets in several sizes. You can choose a city theme for Tokyo, Kyoto, or Osaka, then watch the number tick down each day.

It also includes a different Japanese phrase every day until your trip. You can tap to hear the phrase spoken and save the ones you want to remember.

There is also a practical pre-trip checklist covering things like passport validity, JR Passes, Suica, pocket WiFi, and cash. It is meant to help you remember the things that are easy to overlook while you are focused on the fun parts of planning.

Japan Trip Countdown includes:

  • Small, medium, and large Home Screen widgets
  • Lock Screen widgets
  • Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka themes
  • A new Japanese phrase each day
  • Audio pronunciation
  • Saved favorite phrases
  • A pre-trip checklist
  • Offline access
  • No account, subscription, or ads

The app is completely free, and all the content is bundled, so it works without a network connection.

This is another small addition to the collection of Japan travel apps I have been building. Arrive Japan helps travelers learn useful Japanese before they land, while Japan Trip Countdown makes the wait a little more enjoyable and helps with the final preparation.
